Maharagama Urban Council area is located 16 km south-east of the City of Colombo. Maharagama Urban Council was established on 15.04.2002 by the Gazette No. 1218/35 of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka dated 10 January 2002. At present, there are many employees and officers employed at the Municipal Council. This is a local government body in the district of Colombo that has achieved development very rapidly.
